Synthetic Grass FAQ: synthetic grass and high heels

1/ High heels will damage the grass.

High heel shoes are prohibited on synthetic grass lawn. High heels may poke into the synthetic grass and then weeds will grow from the hole that has been created by the heel which has penetrated the artificial grass.

2/ Will you stumble on fake grass when you are wearing the high heels?

Artificial grass tufting may lead to some circle yarns uncut, which is potential to stumble ladies with high heels. Indeed, MelodyGrass has strict quality control, we don't allow the circle yarns existing. Then you can see the situation is very rare.

However, ladies please wear flat-soled shoes on synthetic grass to avoid any damages towards artificial grass / synthetic grass.

Fibrillated VS monofilament grass yarn

Monofilament V.S. Fibrillated

Fibrillated fibers have been existing for years before monofilament appears in the market. And monofilament takes the market quickly due to its durability and simulation. You can see the following photos to understand the difference.

Fibrillated grass yarn has a net side face, while the monofilament yarn is totally separated. The extrusion is used for monofilament production.

The reason for the shift to monofilament was because fibrillated yarns show signs of wearing out in 4 - 7 years due to the continued separating of the yarns. The monofilament tests show that the wear tolerance would last approximately 3 times longer.

A good monofilament turf is suitable for any ball game sport.

Secret in Artificial Grass industry: Are you buying real yarn Dtex from China?

Artificial Grass Quality:

When the price for artificial grass is going unexpectedly low, do you think you are buying a bargain?

No, absolutely no.
You get what you pay without any doubt.

Dtex is a very important data related to the price.
0.2USD reduction might be possible, but never 1USD/sqm. for wholesale price.
Have you encountered this problem?
Or any situation like same dtex, same specification, meanwhile price difference 1$, 2$?

It's difficult to measure it for the wholesalers, distributors and installers.
Don't believe in any big price reduction without any specification change.

Artificial Grass Quality: Artificial Grass Being Weathered Away

Artificial turf being weathered away after 2 or 3 years from the manufacturing date caused a big scandal in the whole industry. The problem caused huge compensation and reputation damage. It was from a big Chinese artificial grass factory.

After the technical investigation with our experts, the fact is talcum powder was added during artificial turf yarn extrusion, with low-cost anti-aging additives. The intention is to increase the weight and reduce the production cost. Some buyers simply pursuing low prices contribute also.

Chinese artificial grass production is currently taking a great part of the global production. Every buyer understand very well that Chinese factories are able to achieve top top quality artificial grass products without the target price limits. We deeply trust the quality and the price will get the balance in the next years.

General: Artificial Grass / Artificial turf

Artificial turf is a surface of synthetic fibers made to look like natural grass. It is most often used in arenas for sports that were originally or are normally played on grass. However, it is now being used on residential lawns and commercial applications as well. The main reason is maintenance—artificial turf stands up to heavy use, such as in sports, and requires no irrigation or trimming. Domed, covered, and partially covered stadiums may require artificial turf because of the difficulty of getting grass enough sunlight to stay healthy. But artificial turf does have its downside: limited life, periodic cleaning requirements, petroleum use, toxic chemicals from infill, and some heightened health and safety concerns.
Artificial turf first gained substantial attention in the 1960s, when it was used in the newly constructed Astrodome. The specific product used was developed by Monsanto and called AstroTurf; this term since then became a colloquialism for any artificial turf throughout the late 20th century. AstroTurf remains a registered trademark, but is no longer owned by Monsanto. The first generation turf systems (i.e., short-pile fibers without infill) of the 1960s has been largely replaced by the second generation and third generation turf systems. Second generation synthetic turf systems featured sand infills, and third generation systems, which are most widely used today, offer infills that are mixtures of sand and recycled rubber.

Geral: grama sintetico

grama sintetico   |    grama artificial

usado no Astrodome recém-construído.
O produto específico utilizado foi desenvolvido pela Monsanto e chamou AstroTurf;
este termo desde então tornou-se um coloquialismo para qualquer relvado artificial durante todo
o final do século 20.
